What happened when Jesus was alone in the desert for forty days and nights?

He was tempted by the Devil.

Jesus had spent many days in the desert without any food or drink, and the Devil said to him to turn stones into bread, which Jesus denied. The Devil then took Jesus up to the top of a temple where he said "Throw yourself down, as the scripture says 'God will send all his Angels, so not even His feet will be hurt by the ground". Jesus refused and said, "Do not put the Lord your God to the test". Then The Devil took Jesus where he could see all the kingdoms of Earth and said "All this will be yours if you bowed to me", to where Jesus told The Devil to leave.
