If rabbits feet are so lucky then what happened to the rabbit?

I suspect it's highly unlikely that rabbits are lucky.

Apparently a rabbit's foot is supposed to be lucky... the rabbit had four of them and it wasn't lucky enough to escape having its feet removed.
