What are the differences between black ants and carpenter ants, and do you have pictures to help illustrate these distinctions?

Black ants and carpenter ants differ in size, color, and nesting habits. Black ants are typically smaller and black in color, while carpenter ants are larger and can be black, red, or a combination of both. Carpenter ants also have a more rounded thorax compared to the black ants. In terms of nesting habits, black ants usually build their nests in soil or under rocks, while carpenter ants prefer to nest in wood, where they can cause damage.
