Why are people afraid of storms?

If it's an electrical storm, a person could be electrocuted (not necessarily killed, but severely traumatized by the event).

If it brings a flood, a person could be swept away and severely injured or drowned, or lose all property.

If it brings a tornado, a person could be injured or killed by flying debris, even if it happens in the nighttime and they are asleep!

Hard rains, hailstones, and heavy winds can damage or even wipe out crops and injure or kill livestock.
