Who is the leader of Slovakia?

The president is independent Andrej Kiska, defeating Prime Minister Robert Fico in run-off of presidential elections in 2014. His predecessor Ivan Gašparovič, could not run for a third term.

As of 2012, Robert Fico's social democratic party SMER-SD, leads a single-party government. Next parliamentary elections are to be held in March 2016. The speaker of the parliament, since 2014, is member of SMER-SD, Peter Pellegrini.
