Who Was kronos and what happened to him after the gods defeated him?

You'll see Kronos (or Chronos) every New Year's Eve; he's "Father Time" appearing as the Old Year. In Greek Mythology, he was the father of Zeus and his planet - Saturn - is the next out from Zeus's - Jupiter. Kronos's son Zeus imprisoned him and took his place as king. Since we might suppose that this outcome was favorable to Zeus/Jupiter and an unhappy event for Kronos/Saturn, we use the adjectives "jovial" to describe a cheerful disposition and "saturnine" to denote a glum one.
