In Canada we call it 'Vital Statistics' where all births; marriages; divorces and deaths are recorded. Since you know your father's first and last name it would be easy to apply and see if there is a marriage certificate, but it may cost you a few dollars. You can also phone or email and ask one of your father's relatives if he is remarried.
