What are the limitations of WordPress?

WordPress has so many benefits that its hard to identify limitations. There are 3 different platforms for WordPress.

- One platform is hosting on the WordPress site, one is hosting it yourself and the other is the MU installation used by institutions that require several blogs on the same server. The most prominent limitation of the WordPress blog hosted on the WordPress server is that you don't have control of the blog. Therefore if you take the time to monetize it and WordPress decides that they don't like it and ask you to take it down, you've lost all your effort. Whereas, if you purchase hosting for yourself and host your own blog, no one can dictate to you what you can and cannot put on your blog. Therefore, if you are going to take the time to develop a blog, host it yourself on your own server and it will be secure and in your control forever.

- Another limitation of WordPress is that the use of plugins and heavy themes make it load slow, make your you do not use heavy plugins on your website and always use fast loading WordPress themes on your websites (check tests of ttfbtest.com).
