What is the role of a duty manger when a fire alarm sounds?

The main duty is to ensure that the premises is evacuated smoothly and without panic, and that nobody is left inside the building. Another important duty is to gather together all evacuees at a designated Fire Point, and take a count of heads. If the business is not connected to the fire services automatically then the lead person will ensure that a call is made. This is normally undertaken at time of evacuation unless it is not safe to do so.
