When your cornea is not round, you may have a condition known as astigmatism. This irregular shape can cause blurred or distorted vision because light rays are not focused evenly on the retina. Astigmatism can occur in conjunction with nearsightedness or farsightedness and is often corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery.
