It is highly unlikely that MacArthur took any furniture with him on the US PT boat which whisked him away before the Japanese tightened their grip. Highly unlikely. It would have been a joke had he (MacArthur) instructed military staff to load a desk or anything else onto the small naval vessel that took him from the jaws of an advancing Imperial Army. This soldier, whatever faults he had, was ready to stay (resigning his commission to do so to avoid disobeying an order to leave) and fight as a guerrilla. He wasn't the type to drag an office chair onto a PT boat so he could take it with him.
