I owned a 1993 Chrysler minivan which got stock in 2nd gear at 79,000 miles . This happened after I noticed it started to drop in to second gear unexpected. Turns out that in my case, it was the beginning of an automatic transmission failure (sorry). The dealer explained to that when Chrysler transmissions start to fail, they don't usually stop working - -just stop working correctly meaning not shifting into higher gears.
One thing you might want to check is to see if the transmission fluid is OK . If it is low this might be why it is not shifting correctly.
Wish I had a more promising answer!
The transmission computer will store a code for the failure it detected.
