How do you deal with rumours that are not true?

Lately I've been dealing with alot of rumours and the best thing you can do is to just ignore them. I know it feels like you want to go up to ther person starting them and set them straight, but that just makes it worse. The people who truly know you and are your good friends will know its not true and anyone who believes mean things that come out of peoples mouths out of jealousy or hatred doesn't need to be in your life
