The ancient Egyptians used a tool called a "khufu," also known as a "brain hook," to extract the brain during the embalming process. This instrument was designed with a long, hooked end that allowed embalmers to reach through the nasal cavity and remove the brain, which they believed was of little importance compared to the heart, which was left in the body. The removal of the brain was part of their mummification practices aimed at preserving the body for the afterlife.
