What is the purpose of the fire drill?

The purpose of a fire drill is simple and mostly common sense. It is there to help inform you that something is burning, and if there is a fire, the fire alarm it is loud. It saves millions of lives. Say you were sleeping and a fire happened in the kitchen and your bedroom is upstairs, and you didn't know, a fire alarm goes off to alert you so you have time to distinguish it or escape and survive.
