What is bridged dictionary?

It sounds like "bridged" but it's actually an older Word, "abridged." That means a short version, an abbreviated version. So an abridged dictionary is shorter than the big, full-size dictionary you may have seen at the library. It is often pocket-size and only has the most commonly used Words.
