Cairo, located in Egypt, is situated just north of the equator, at approximately 30 degrees North latitude, making it part of the northern hemisphere. It lies to the northeast of the Sahara Desert, which covers a significant portion of North Africa. Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, is situated closer to the equator, around 6 degrees North latitude, placing it in the tropical region of West Africa. It is located to the southwest of the Sahara Desert, well outside its arid boundaries.
