Following the end of Jester's term as Governor, Allan Shivers (born Robert Allan Shivers on October 5, 1907 in Lufkin, Texas; died January 14, 1985 in Austin, Texas) became the thirty-seventh Governor of Texas, serving between July 11, 1949 and January 15, 1957.
