Always keep the computer in an area in the house that can be monitored, buy a program such as "net nanny" that blocks children from entering explcit sites and warn them about the dangers of chat rooms.

Talk to your children about internet safety.

If it can be avoided, teach your children to not post their info online, even if it is to make an account for some website. Teach your children to use fake information when creating these accounts, and/or help create these accounts with your children.
