Why do you get beauty spots?

Most are a result of minor developmental anomalies whilst in the womb causing either malformation of blood vessels or an unusually high concentration of melanocytes in an area of the skin. Some birthmarks may be the result of trauma during birth itself as the baby travels down the birth canal - it's a tight fit, & the pressures/ forces involved are considerable!
