The number of calories you should eat each day depends on several factors, including gender, age, height, sex, amount of exercise and overall health. A physically active 18 year old boy requires considerably more calories than a 5ft 2ins 14 year old girl who does not exercise. The basic breakdown is calories = weight if you are simply existing in life. So if you eat 1200 calories a day you will weigh 120lbs. Now if you add exercise to the equation you would need to add more calories to maintain the weight. If you are concerned the best course is to see a Nutritionist or your doctor.
