Which environment is best for a petunia?

Petunias are very tough in most temperate climates and are especially tolerant of sunny and drier conditions. They should not be grown in overly rich soil as they will become sappy and weak. Neither do they particularly like very windy conditions. A sunny position in average garden soil will suit them well.
