What was it like for a slave to be free?

It was wonderful for a slave to be free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~ They were finally free from cruel masters ordering them around and whipping them. Now they were their own people and they could do whatever they wanted. It was like heaven to them.
