•Within 30 minutes of parenteraldrug administration

•Within 1 hour of oral drug administration

•With each report of new pain

•With unrelieved pain

•With each report of changes in pain

•Before, during and after procedures known to cause pain

•Routinely, with pain screening

•Whenever pain is suspected.
