Where is the volkswagen beetle with the engine number D0644742 made?

Open the trunk lid--AKA the "front hood." There's a data plate in there that has the country of manufacture on it. You can't really go by engine number because so many Bugs are driving around with engines that came from the factory in other Bugs.
