Yes, some good writers can be bad conversationalists because they can freely express themselves while writing rather than talking one-on-one which is much more difficult than hiding out and writing. Example: People who text each other are known to discuss more things than if they were both sitting down in person because they cannot see the person's facial expression or reaction to what they are saying and for some reason this makes the person more comfortable.
