How much methadone do they give heroin addicts on average when they go in for treatment?

In Maryland they start you off at 30mgs of Methadone, liquid. From there you can go up by 5 mgs a day for so many days. 90mgs is about the maximum dose but 30mgs holds you just fine. But when addicts are asked if they want to go up on their dose, most say yes. But its that much harder to come off of a dose of 90mgs then 30mgs.

I was on Methadone maintenance for about 1 yr. Then switched to suboxone.
