As of 2024, approximately 72% of jobs in the United States are projected to require postsecondary education or training by 2031. This marks an increase from 66% today. The Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce anticipates that between 2021 and 2031, there will be around 18.5 million job openings each year, with about 12.5 million of these positions requiring at least some college education​
