How do you get the burn muffin smell out of a microwave?

Not for sure, but my sister ended up putting one of those thermal coffee mugs in our microwave, which smelt terrible by the way. So my mom put lemon slices in water and put them in the mirowave for a couple minutes. After a few times it went away so it's worth a try, right?
