720 ILCS 5/24-1(a)(2) makes illegal any "dangerous knife" that is carried or possessed with the intent to use it unlawfully. If not carried into a government building and not wielded for unlawful purposes, one could probably carry one without breaking the law. Another View: Because of their construction, stealth, and potential lethality, in every jurisdiction I am aware of, so-called "sWord-canes" fall under the CONCEALED WEAPONS statutes and are unlawful to possess in public.
