Examples of provisions for a sea voyage in the 1600's would be sea biscuits, flour, dried or salted meat and fish (bacon, fat back and hog belly, sausages of all kinds, meat 'puddings', haddock, cod, etc.), dried fruits, molasses, drinking water, beer, rum, and some live hogs and chickens with food to feed them until eaten.
The primary concern was to pack up materials that do not spoil in dampness over a long period.
