There is a great article on Forbes right now about one of the greatest private car collections in the world. Owned by Bruce Meyer, a Los Angeles real estate investor, the collection "ranges from dragsters to Duesenbergs". Meyer told Forbes the cars in his collection are emphasized on performance and, in some cases like Clark Gable's last car, their unique history.
