The official population estimates for Jan. 1, 2015 are:

66,3 million inhabitants (mainland France plus oversea possessions).

According to the French government estimates, on Jan 1, 2015:

64.2 million people live in mainland France;

2.1 million people live in oversea departments and oversea territories.

These people are not all French; in early 2013, 5.8 million foreign born-immigrants lived in France, making about 8.8% of its population, and about 2 million French nationals lived abroad in 2007.
