Why do you have so many dead insects in your basement?

I no longer have a basement, but for those who do, one cause is climate change through the seasons. Insects enter when there is food for them (warm, humid months) and die off when there is no food for them (freezing, dry conditions, etc.) They also may die off due to periodic spraying.
