There is, however, this is just a approximation.

Solve for the variables that follow, where N(squared) is the closest perfect square to S. The directions follow:

d = S - N2

P = d (over) 2N

Answer = N + P

Let's try finding the square root of 79.

d = 79 - 92

So d = -2

P = -2 (over) 2(9)

So P = -0.1 (repeating)

Answer = 9 + -0.1 (repeating)

The square root of 79 about equals 8.8 (repeating)

And since 8.8 (repeating) = 8 and 8 (over) 9, we can calculate that 8.8 (repeating) squared equals about 79.01234567...

It is really accurate, so good luck using this approximation!
