How does informative advertising differ from competitive advertising?

The purpose of informative advertising is to inform the general public of some event e.g. Election Canada inform public about the upcoming elections and how people can vote.

On the other hand when you promote your product or services in competition to other similar products or services. E.g. various car manufacturers advertise for their cars.
