What is a slider in gold coins?

It refers to a coin that is in almost, but not quite, uncirculated condition. Collectors long ago used to keep their coins in very shallow drawers lined with felt. As the drawers were opened and closed, the coins would slide on the felt and exhibit slight signs of wear. Hence the term "slider."
