Aphrodite was the goddess of love and patron goddess of joy, the Charities who attended her were also goddesses of joy; among them Euphrosyne whose very name means merriment and mirth and good cheer.

Dionysus is also a god associated with joy and pleasure through his being the god of wine and festivity.
