There's a place called the Bering strait. Its a tiny piece of land that used to connect North America and Siberia/Russia. Thousands of years ago people traveled across this strip populating north America. It also helps to explain Inuits or Eskimos.

The first ice age. Was seen as the reason for this migration. As humans were constantly on the lookout for warmer climates and food. Forcing people out of their villages to hunt far and wide for a better place to survive.
