What would Earth's magnetic field look like if it were solid, and why would it appear that way?

Well, sweetheart, if Earth's magnetic field were solid, it would probably look like a big, lumpy mess. Kinda like a cosmic potato left out in the sun too long. It would appear that way because things aren't meant to be solid when they're supposed to be all wibbly-wobbly and constantly moving to protect our precious planet.
