How did Stephenie Meyer come up with the characters in Twilight?

hey! Stephenie Meyer said that it started as a dream. she dreamt of the meadow scene! after that she wanted to know what would happen to the characters when she stopped dreaming, so she just started to write Twilight! (P.S. i did NOT make this up, i read it on her website...) hope this helps!
