Why is it necessay to shake a bottle of salad dressing before adding it to salad?

Because it is concentrated and so the lighter stuff floats to the top (thats why its a lighter color) and the heavier ingredients sinks to the bottom (darker color) so you shake it to mix it so it doesn't taste gross. =P
