The US government uses the Body-Mass index to determine 'proper weight', with the scale of 18.5 to 24.9 being the range for "normal weight". According to this scale a 5'8" woman of 18, would be smack in the middle of "normal weight" at about 140 lbs.

The problem with this system is that there are so many different body types for people that it can get things wrong in some cases. For instance, even taking into account his extreme tallness, Shaquille ONeil is technically "obese" by his BMI, even though he could easily out-athletic any of us. Society's and Maxim's ideal weight- 120 Medical ideal weight- 140 Why don't you just meet them both halfway and try for 130?
