What is the legal status wherein prisoners are not allowed to vote?

First of all they broke the law,by that the neglected the priviliges the had.Also if they see a person who will help them by saying ''It's not there fault it's the societies fault.'' of course they will vote for that person.Even though they are humans they still have no equall right's because they chose the wrong way. However if they get out of jail and they vote they would vote for people we would not vote for. Anyways they are criminals,bad people,they should not by all means have voting rights

It seems to me that with rights (like the rite to vote) should come responsibilities (like the responsibility not to commit crimes against other members of your society).

It seems correct therefore are as a citizen fails to deliver on living up to his/her responsibilities, they should proportionately lose their rights.
