How did peta originate?

Silver Spring Monkeys, the PETA co-founder Alex Pachecho leaked photos of rhesus monkeys being experimented on, and it was a huge scandal. People began donating money and becoming members, and the silver spring case was the first animal rights case to reach supreme court.
