What is osteachondroma?

Osteochondroma is a benign bone tumor that typically develops during the growth phase of adolescence and early adulthood, commonly found on the long bones, particularly around the knee. It consists of both bone and cartilage and appears as a protrusion from the surface of the bone. While most osteochondromas are asymptomatic and require no treatment, they can occasionally cause pain, restrict movement, or lead to other complications, such as fractures or nerve compression. Surgical removal may be necessary if symptoms arise or if there is concern about malignant transformation.
