The process is called electroless plating because it does not follow the electroplating principle instead this process is a chemical process in which metal coatings are done by chemical reduction of metal ions present in the solution in which the component to be plated is immersed.

the advantages are

1. No electricity is required

2. Nonconductive materials can be plated by this process

3. Simple process requiring simple equipment.
