Toddler's taste buds change based on their diet. For instance, if the child is fed sugary, and processed food, that is what their taste buds will become accustomed to. If the child is fed fruit, vegetables, and meat, their taste buds will become accustomed to that. Thus they will want to eat healthier, and it will avoid possible, future weight problems, and an array of health problems.
So, my answer would be feed them a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, meat, and occasionally something sweet (sweet's don't hurt every now and again.)
