What is road cutting?

When cars want to travel across a steep slope, there is a risk of the car sliding or rolling down the slope. To get a safer, more level surface, machines and explosives are used to dig a notch in the side of the slope. A more general usage of cutting a road refers to the process of smoothing out smaller terrain and vegetation obstacles to transportation, such as when the land is forested and trees are cut down to allow road construction.
