Why did people invent the electric coffee maker?

The coffee machine was invented to make it easier to make a consistently good cup of coffee every time. Machines that use pre-packaged coffee are more expensive to use than other methods, but these allow anyone to have a wide variety of types and flavors from the comfort of home.
